Abigail GondaDevelopment Producer | BBC Writersroom
Abigail Gonda is Development Producer for BBC Writersroom. She sources new writing talent and nurtures writers across a wide range of mediums; from TV to film, radio to theatre, and the increasingly important medium of online content. She just returned from five years in Los Angeles where she worked for the Sundance Institute Feature Film program to find writers, directors and producers for their labs. She also freelanced for the University of Southern California’s theatre and screenwriting departments – working closely with MA students on graduate productions. Her work as a dramaturg includes productions at South Coast Rep, Denver Center for Performing Arts, The Women’s Project New York and Playwrights Theatre Centre in Vancouver. Before this, she was Literary Manager for the Bush Theatre for four years and has worked as a reader or judge for nearly every new writing theatre company and competition in the country.
BBC Writersroom is the new writing talent arm of the BBC. The BBC is one of the few large, multi-faceted media organizations which operate an open door policy to script submissions. Although being an access point to the many commissioners within the BBC itself, BBC Writersroom is much more than a filter. At its heart, it is a valuable support network for new talent, helping writers to explore their creative impulses as well as further their careers.
