As founder of Free @ Last Television, Barry Ryan has a track record in innovative television across a multiplicity of programme styles and genres. A BBC Production trainee between 1994 and 1996 he worked across all BBC departments, finding his home as a Senior Producer in Music & Entertainment. A move into the independent arena garnered Ryan a range of production awards and gave him the inspiration to form Free @ Last TV. Free of boundaries, Barry will never flinch at a challenge, allowing the company to flourish across many genres.

Q: What piece of advice can you give writers who are pitching to you or trying to break into the industry?
A: Know the market for your idea. Be able to pitch it simply and in 100 words. Understand how the business works and that someone has to fund your ideas for them to happen – be prepared for the pitch.
