Bill began his career as an actor, and has appeared on stage at the Royal National Theatre, the RSC, The Royal Court and The Almeida, among others. He has appeared in BBC, ITV, Channel 4, NBC, CBC and HBO shows as a television actor and in films for Warner Bros., Film Four and BBC Films.

He transitioned into writing in 2003 and began work on Doctors in 2006 and has now become a core writer on the show. His episode, ‘Unfinished Business’ was nominated for best single episode at the British Soap Awards. Bill also wrote all five episodes of the first series of BBC1 Drama, The Indian Doctor. He is currently developing original projects with a number of independent companies.
