David HughesScreenwriter, Author and Film Critic
A professional writer since the age of 21, David Hughes cut his teeth in the advertising business as a copywriter and producer with London- based agency The Creative Partnership, before moving to Picture Production Co as a writer/producer, based in London and Los Angeles. After spearheading literally hundreds of campaigns, from Trainspotting to Pulp Fiction, he left to form his own movie marketing company, Synchronicity, in 2006, which he continues to run out of Soho.
A film critic for Empire and widely published magazine and newspaper journalist, he is also the author of six non-fiction books, including The Greatest Sci-Fi Movies Never Made, Tales from Development Hell and critically-acclaimed books about filmmakers Stanley Kubrick and David Lynch.
As a screenwriter, he has scripted nine feature films and several prize-winning shorts, and over the years has written comic material for John Cleese, Mike Myers, Leslie Nielsen, Chris Rock, Will Ferrell, Sacha Baron Cohen and numerous other comic talents.
