David writes for an extremely broad range of media. Over the past decade, he has written websites, speeches, musicals for cruise ships, ad campaigns, poetry, alternate reality games, apps, ebooks, plays, radio drama, articles, beer mats, billboards, feature films, short films, tweets, animations, brochures, script reports, treasure hunts and many other projects that defy categorisation.
His most recent work includes a series of site-specific plays called The Seed for the 2012 Cultural Olympiad; a chart-topping mobile game called Zombies, Run! (nominated for a Writers’ Guild Award); and the screenplay for steampunk adventure movie Clockwork Watch. He is also developing an original drama series for Channel 4.
Alongside his writing, David teaches residential courses for the Arvon Foundation and speaks at film schools, universities, festivals and conferences around the world.
David thinks the key to surviving as a writer is flexibility – and right now, he’s practising what he preaches by making himself available for 100 hours of live online writing, taking all kinds of literary requests from the public in return for donations towards Arvon’s educational work.
