James works as a novelist and videogames writer, and in 2012 was nominated for a BAFTA for Best Story for his work on the critically-acclaimed Deus Ex: Human Revolution; the game went on to win the CVA award for Best Writing the same year.

His other games credits include Fable: The JourneyKillzone 2Maelstrom and Battlestar Galactica. The only British writer to have worked on a Star Trek television series, his writing also includes radio/audio drama projects based on Doctor WhoBlake’s 7 and other genre franchises.

James is the author of thirty-five books, including the New York Times bestsellers Fear to Tread and Nemesis, the Scribe award winner Day of the Vipers, and non-fiction works Dark Eye: The Films of David Fincher and Game Writing: Narrative Skills For Videogames. He is currently working on his next book and an unnanounced triple-A games project for next-generation consoles.
