Vinay Patel is a playwright & screenwriter.  His debut play, True Brits, premiered at the Edinburgh Fringe 2014, before transferring to the Bush Theatre and Vault Festival in 2015. The follow up, Free Fall, ran at the Pleasance Islington in October 2014 and was nominated for three Off West End Awards.

His first piece for television, Murdered By My Father, was released on BBC3 in March 2016, to critical acclaim, and was later repeated on BBC1. It also won the 2017 Royal Television Society Award for Best Single Drama and has since been nominated for three BAFTAs.

He is currently under commission to the Bush Theatre, as well as developing projects for the BBC and the BFI.
