Script Lab 5: The Secret To Great Comedy Is…..WRITING! Getting your jokes/sketches performed and broadcast. Returning for a second year after last years lab resulted in gags on Have I Got News For You being broadcast just two weeks after the festival!
Ged Parsons is an award-winning writer of TV and radio and has written for some of the biggest names in comedy. Currently working on Have I Got News For You and Mock The Week, Ged has also written for comedy legends John Cleese, Rory Bremner, Smith & Jones, The Two Ronnies and the all too recently late but always great Joan Rivers.
Ged is heading up this unique Lab designed to help and guide writers who have great sketch/joke writing material and take it to the next level.
The ultimate aim being for the six successful applicants to further improve upon previously developed work as well as creating and work-shopping new great ideas of a standard that they’re ready to submit to broadcasters and commissioners.
The six selected writers for this lab will undergo an intense writing ‘lock-in’ with Ged over the LSF weekend. If you are selected you will also be expected to read ALL six projects in this lab, as will Ged.
There will also be an online ‘meet-up’ before AND after the festival so that we can begin work before the lab and continue it beyond the LSF. We want the group to bond and offer a continued support network.
Expect competition for the six slots to be high, so only submit when your work is the best that it can be.
OK to be considered you will need to submit:
- Three fully developed topical gags.
- Supporting statement about you and your writing background, giving context.
- A writing CV (not sure what goes here? Check out this post HERE)
