with Simon Beaufoy
Move over Twilight, the Hunger Games are here! And with them, award winning screenwriter and returning friend of the Festival, Simon Beaufoy.
Most screenwriters would be happy with The Full Monty, Slumdog Millionaire and Salmon Fishing in the Yemen on their credentials, but Simon never stops. In this session we will discuss the electro-charged challenge of adapting a highly successful teen novel into a blockbusting movie for a young audience. Being mindful that an author can get away with a lot more in prose than a movie maker on film, how did Simon tiptoe through the minefield of what was palatable to a 12 and 15 audience?
And can we hope the vampires are dead now?
