Meet Oscar winning Screenwriter and Playwright Christopher Hampton at The London Breakfast Club (in the afternoon!)
A master at the adaptation, be it from novels or plays (including his own), Christopher Hampton’s work has garnered him four Tony Awards, three Olivier Awards, five Evening Standard Awards, the New York Theatre Critic’s Circle Award, one Oscar (for the brilliant Dangerous Liaisons in 1988), another nomination for Atonement, two BAFTAs, a WGA Award and a Special Jury Award at the Cannes Film Festival.
And he’s still going strong with four new projects currently in development, including the movie version of his West End and Broadway hit musical ‘Sunset Boulevard’.
Suffice it to say that Christopher is a master of his trade, consistently performing at the highest level creating beautiful, significant and stunning pieces of work that platform not just his own talents but those of the amazing filmmakers, actors and creatives who assemble to bring his words to stages and screens around the world.
Join us as we welcome Christopher into the London Screenwriters Festival family for a very special afternoon (or as we like to call it – ‘Pimms O’clock’) Breakfast Club session where he will discuss…
- How he got his start and the ups and downs of the journey he’s been on ever since
- The art and craft of the adaptation
- The challenges of writing for both stage and screen (which he prefers and why)
- How he stays so very prolific – what drives such a supremely accomplished writer to keep writing?
- Plus much more more besides
And remember, aside from a great talk, you will also get the opportunity to ask Christopher questions after the session, enjoy a pre-weekend bevy or two and also network with other filmmakers and screenwriters just like you.
There will be complimentary tea and coffee and biscuits and of course the bar will be open.
