with Claudia Myers
This workshop will focus specifically on the craft of writing dialogue. We will begin by reviewing the principal functions of dialogue, the use of subtext, and the importance of conflict. We will then apply these principals to the analysis of a scene from a produced screenplay to demonstrate the craft behind good dialogue.
We will conclude the session with a practical dialogue exercise in the room allowing participants to test these new principals in their own writing and the results will be discussed as a group.
