This three-hour intensive lab invites six writers to step away from screenwriting and seriously explore novel writing as a creative and professional path. Led by writer and author Terri Terry, the session is designed for writers who feel drawn to fiction but want expert guidance on how to make the transition with purpose and confidence.
Participants will examine how ideas that may have originated for film or television can evolve into novels, while also learning the unique demands and freedoms of prose, voice, interiority, point of view, and long-form structure.
Through discussion, examples, and direct feedback, writers will:
Explore whether their current ideas are better suited to novels than scripts
Learn the key creative and craft shifts between screenwriting and fiction
Develop or refine a novel concept, voice, and narrative approach
Consider the realities of the publishing landscape and sustainable writing careers
With only six writers in the room, each participant receives thoughtful, tailored input while benefiting from shared insights and peer discussion. Writers leave the lab with a clearer sense of direction, a stronger connection to their material, and practical next steps toward beginning, or committing to a novel project.
