Dean Craig is a London born screenwriter and director. His career took off in 2007 when he wrote the hit British comedy film, DEATH AT A FUNERAL, starring Matthew Macfadyen and Peter Dinklage. The film was a critical and commercial success, winning several audience awards for Best Film including at the HBO comedy festival and Locarno International Film Festival, and was no.1 in the box office in several countries.
It was remade in the US just two years later, featuring an all-star cast that included Chris Rock, Zoe Saldana, Kevin Hart, Martin Lawrence, James Marsden, Tracy Morgan and Danny Glover, was remade as a Bollywood version in 2009, and in 2025 was remade as a Spanish film entitled “UN FUNERAL DE LOCOS”, currently no.2 in the Spanish box office and the highest grossing Spanish film so far this year. Death at a Funeral stands as the most re-made English language film from an original screenplay.
In 2020, Craig’s directorial debut LOVE, WEDDING, REPEAT, featured a cast that included Sam Claflin, Olivia Munn and Freida Pinto and on its release was the no.1 film on Netflix in the US, UK and around the world. He went on to write and direct THE HONEYMOON, with Maria Bakalova, Asim Chaudhry and Lucas Bravo, which was the no.1 film on Amazon Prime in the UK, and THE ESTATE, starring Toni Collette, Anna
Faris, Kathleen Turner and David Duchovny, which was the no.1 film on Hulu in the US.
Others of Craig’s 12 feature film credits include CAFFEINE, starring Mena Suvari and Katherine Heigl, A FEW BEST MEN with Xavier Samuel and Rebel Wilson, MOONWALKERS, with Rupert Grint and Ron Perlman, CARRIE PILBY with Bel Powley, and MON CHIEN STUPIDE with Charlotte Gainsbourg. He also wrote and created the BBC comedy series, OFF THE HOOK with Jonathan Bailey, and US series HIT THE ROAD, starring Jason Alexander.
He spends his time between Los Angeles and London with his family and dog, Uncle Harry.
