Mission Impossible made possible at Screenwriters Festival 2026
It felt like breaking into the world of scriptwriting was “Mission Impossible” but taking part in the London Scriptwriters Festival 2026 opened up all sorts of opportunities.
I had just polished off my first comedy feature film script and this was the place where I could pitch it to the industry’s top execs. How cool was that?
Over the three days of the festival, I made many contacts from aspiring screen writers like myself, to high-end professionals in the business including directors and producers.
Seminar topics I enjoyed were: collaborative scriptwriting; and what actors, directors and script editors actually do with your finished screenplay.
There was also the opportunity to speak directly to award-winning script writers in small rooms, from TV shows like The Feud, to hearing in the big hall from Catherine Hardwicke, director of Thirteen and Twilight, about the process of how the films were put together.
For me the highlight of the festival was listening to Scott Myers, writer of K-9 fame, talk about the different types of genres around and how you could develop them.
Festival organiser Chris Jones encouraged everyone to mix and network as much as possible and not to give up their dream.
For a man who worked with A-lister actor Tom Cruise on Mission Impossible it felt like he was actually making all things possible.
The London Screenwriters Festival certainly opened a door for me into a world I thought I would never see, and I would strongly recommend it. Five stars from start to finish.
