Gene is a British film & television director & screenwriter and CEO of production company Cupsogue Pictures. An entertainment industry veteran who has worked in the sector for 25 years, Gene began his film career in 2006 after a career in radio and television production, earning his first feature producer credit on Nick Love’s action thriller Outlaw (2007) starring Sean Bean, Bob Hoskins & Danny Dyer. In 2011, Gene wrote and directed the groundbreaking indie film Superman Requiem (2011), which has gained a large cult following and has been streamed over 65 million times.
In 2012, Gene produced Airborne (2012) which starred Star Wars veteran Mark Hamill. In 2016 he was a judge on the reality television acting show Stage School (2016). In 2017 Gene directed horror film Cain Hill (2017), which starred Gemma Atkinson and Alex Zane. In 2020 Gene was a featured participant in Blank Slate (2020), a feature documentary about the future of indie film, and in 2022 he executive-produced The Fearway (2023) which starred Eileen Deitz. Most recently Gene wrote and directed Control (2023) starring two-time Academy Award® winner Kevin Spacey.
He is currently working on the highly anticipated feature thriller ‘Nightmares’, which he wrote and is directing, and is scheduled to begin filming in Los Angeles and London later this year.
