James is a showrunner and writer currently writing on various tv and film projects for Apple, Amazon, Vertigo and ITV Studios. Prior to this he was showrunner, screenwriter, and executive producer for his original live-action series Nautilus, which was released in June 2024 for Moonriver Content, AMC, and Amazon. Produced by Moonriver TV and Seven stories, the show is based on the Jules Verne’s classic novel 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea, is a ten-part adventure series about the origin story of Verne’s most iconic character, Captain Nemo, and his famous submarine, The Nautilus.
James recently wrote on the second season of Devils for Luxe Vida/ Sky Atlantic and before that he was showrunning the final season of Medici: The Magnificent for Lux Vide and Netflix. Previously he was lead writer and exec on ITV’s Beowulf, a thirteen-part series for ITV Studios. as well as lead writer and co-exec on multiple seasons of Strikeback for Sky/ HBO/ Cinemax. He has worked on a number of successful series including Sinbad, a thirteen-part Sky series about the 8th Century hero, The Musketeers, Spooks, and ITV’s The Fixer, Dangerous Liaisons, and Hijack. In film, James wrote Outcast, an American Chinese co-production set in China during the time of the Qin Dynasty, starring Nicholas Cage and Hayden Christensen.
