Lucinda Whiteley – Prod/Co-founder // Novel Entertainment

A highly experienced producer and writer in the media industry, Lucinda co-founded Novel Entertainment in 2001 alongside Mike Watts and as Creative Director has lead the company in creating and developing highly successful children’s character brands such as Horrid Henry, Fimbles, Cinemaniacs, The Roly Mo Show and Rockit’s Pocket. Novel Entertainment’s programming output spans thousands of shows across television, film, radio and online platforms, and the brand portfolio also extends into licensing, merchandising, published works, interactive digital content and theatre. 

 

Before co-founding Novel Entertainment Lucinda’s career in media included London Weekend Television, The Children’s Channel, Universal Pictures and Channel Four Television, where she led the commissioning team for The Big Breakfast, Wise Up, Parents Behaving Badly and Hollyoaks. Roles with industry bodies include board member of BAFTA and founding member of Children’s BAFTA, Vice Chair for the World Summit on Children’s Television, member of the Rose d’Or Awards jury and the steering committee of the Oxford Technology and Media Network and Chair of the Oxford Film and TV Network.

 

Looking for: Happy to chat about ideas in all areas, but especially interested in projects and scripts for young people; these could be laugh-out-loud funny or challenging and thought provoking, but above all they’ll understand their young audience whilst providing new angles on their interests and preoccupations.
