At Fizz and Ginger Films, we’ve been diving deeper into genre storytelling – horror, sci-fi, and action – and we’re always on the lookout for scripts that are both smart and commercially savvy. We love stories that stand out from the crowd, bringing something fresh and unexpected, without blowing the indie budget! If it’s cleverly written, bold, and packed with great storytelling, we’re all ears.
Matthew originally trained as an actor but created Fizz and Ginger Films in 2009, and moved to directing, writing and producing full-time in 2013 when Screen International picked him for their ‘Stars of Tomorrow’ edition.
Since then he has produced ten feature films, five of which he has written and directed – Miss In Her Teens (adapted from the 18th century play), Two Down, one of Sky Cinema’s rare 5 star films; The Isle, released in cinemas in the U.S and UK in 2019, Infinitum: Subject Unknown, shot in lockdown with Ian McKellen, and released cinemas in 2021 and recently Dagr, a found footage folk horror released around the world in 2024.
Matthew has also co-authored a book on indie filmmaking, published by Applause (Bloomsbury), ‘Full to the Brim with Fizz, Ginger and Fierce Determination’.
