Megan Halpern // Senior VP of The Black List

Megan Halpern is a writer and producer working across film, television and audio, with a focus on championing original voices and emerging storytellers. She produced the feature DEBORAH, starring Sophia Bush, and co-created, co-wrote, and executive produced the LAist podcast “Nobody Knows Anything.” She is also the producer of the podcast “Word by Word” with host Ed Solomon, which features conversations about craft and process with Hollywood’s leading screenwriters, and has multiple feature projects currently in development.

Halpern serves as Senior Vice President of The Black List, where she oversees strategic partnerships and the company’s film, television, and podcast slate. For more than a decade, she has spearheaded The Black List’s film and television labs, supporting emerging writers and launching careers through intensive craft workshops and creative mentorship. Lab alumni include Hannah McMechan and Danya Jimenez (K-POP DEMON HUNTERS), Noga Pnueli (MEET CUTE), Yvonne Hana Yi (MR. AND MRS. SMITH), and Zara Meerza (INDUSTRY).

In a previous literary life, she worked in book publishing at Picador and Penguin Random House in New York. A recovering boarding school alum, she is a graduate of New York University and now lives in Los Angeles.
