At twenty-one years old, I’m sitting at a desk in the oldest film studio in the world while I rebuild the London Screenwriters Festival app from scratch.
Not once in my wildest dreams did I imagine having this privilege, nor did I realize how much contact I would find myself in with real industry professionals. As an emerging creative in 2025, I’ll be the first to admit that it can be nerve-wracking, but I’ve found myself in a place where I can ask my questions and receive answers and advice in real time.
I’m also working at the same studio where Star Wars was filmed, and I still can’t wrap my mind around that. Have I stopped bragging about it? Of course not. I only joined the London SWF on Tuesday.
In all my excitement to be here, I didn’t imagine that I’d find myself working with the website and recreating the app for festival participants. When I think of stereotypical film internships, I think of coffee runs and take-out food orders, but instead I’ve been given the trust to learn how to use software that is such an important part of the festival. I’m not only building upon my own experience and skills, but also helping to create the tools that will define other people’s experiences in March and April.
To all the delegates looking forward to the festival, more updates are on the way! Right now, you’ll find an organized schedule for the online launch and the list of speakers attending, as well as the incredible team working behind the scenes to make sure everyone has a good time.
Coming soon there will be a space for all delegates to connect, a list of festival sponsors, and everything you’ll need to know about the April events. By the time the pre-festival networking event rolls around on April 24th, delegates will be able to enjoy the weekend without having to worry about paper schedules, floor plans or directories. It’s 2025, my creative people and we are 100% digital.
I’m thrilled to be part of this team, and to experience the London Screenwriters Festival for the first time in April.
