Russell is an Emmy Award-winning Producer for his work on Black Mirror: Bandersnatch, Netflix’s first live action interactive film. As VFX Producer, he won a BAFTA for Black Mirror “Metalhead” (S4) and was nominated for a BAFTA for Black Mirror “Playtest” (S3).
After producing Bandersnatch, Russell worked for over 2 years as a full time Interactive Consultant for Netflix helping develop their live action interactive slate.
Russell’s background is in live action, but he’s also produced all types of animation, including the stopframe animation sequences in Martin Scorcese’s Hugo and Tim Burton’s Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children. Many of his commercials combine live action and animation, including over 300 commercials for the iconic multi-award winning Comparethemarket.com meerkat campaign and Sony Bravia ‘Play Doh’.
Russell started out producing over 50 music videos for artists such as Snow Patrol, Belle & Sebastian, Muse, Tori Amos, Paul McCartney, REM and Gorillaz, working with directors including David Slade, Miguel Sapochnik, Dougal Wilson, Darren Walsh, Tim Hope and Pete Candeland.
Projects in development include Gerry Anderson’s Hit Squad with Warner Bros Animation / Hanna Barbera Europe, which is of course live action puppets.

We’re drawn to the macabre and unconventional. Innovative formats, interactive storytelling in particular, are also of interest.
