The past seven weeks have been a whirlwind of curveballs and learning experiences, but if there’s one thing we know how to do here at the London Screenwriters’ Festival, it’s get creative.
I walked through the gates of Ealing Studios in February with no clue what to expect, but excited for the journey all the same. While a two month internship usually isn’t enough time to get accustomed to a new work environment, working at the London Screenwriters’ Festival has been a masterclass in creative thinking.
My university prepared me for two months of coffee runs and meal pick-ups, but the LSF prepared me for creative control and administrative experience.
Since the beginning of this internship, I’ve learned how to work with more website-building softwares than I can count, and I can officially say I’ve built an app from scratch—something I never would’ve imagined myself doing before this.
Additionally, I’ve learned how to network and problem solve on the spot, as being a part of the LSF production team has required me to think on my feet (quite literally when we did the firewalk!).
Now, looking back, I’m proud of myself for being adaptable and open to growth.
I’m happy to have had an internship which made all of that an exciting experience. I’m grateful to the LSF for the skills and interests it has helped me foster, as well as the connections that I know will serve me well down the line in my career.
My internship with the London Screenwriters’ Festival has been a highlight of my semester abroad in London, and I am incredibly grateful for all that I’ve learned.
