Graduating with a BA in English Literature and an MSc in Artificial Intelligence, Philip worked in AI research at Cambridge University before he turned to TV. Over the last 17 years he has gained substantial production and development experience as both a writer and a script editor.

Series credits as a writer include Trial & Retribution (La Plante Prods), The Sarah Jane Adventures (BBC Wales), The Bill, Holby, Grange Hill and a drama doc for BBC Current Affairs called What If?

Recent projects in development include an original period action adventure series, Atlantis (w/t) with ITV Studios, a SF series called Throwbacks “with Touchpaper, and a crime show called Cops Ltd with Tiger Aspect.

He has had several commissions for series and single treatments from World Productions (who nominated him twice for the Dennis Potter Award), plus a single treatment called Heading South‘ for BBC3, and a 2 x 60’ from Cougar films called “Armed Response”.

His stage and radio work includes Kiss Chase“, which completed a national tour in the spring, and Radio 4 called “Legsy Gets A Break (nominated for a Sony award 2010). His next radio play (Mad Girl) will record at Radio 4 in October, and his last stage play “The Chosen Ones completed a national tour in Apr 2011.

This year Screenwriting Goldmine launched its first annual open screenwriting contest, which attracted nearly 500 entries from all over the world. Finalists and the winner will be announced between October and the end of November.
