Watch This Session

The co-producer of one of Britain’s finest exports, Borat,  Dan Mazer, screenwriter, TV/film producer and comedian discusses the chemistry of comedy and how a long-term working relationship with Sacha Baron Cohen can reap long term rewards.

Where do characters like Ali G and Bruno come from?  How much of Dan and Sacha live within their DNA?  And what are the parameters of global taste – are there any complete no-no’s?  In this session, Dan will discuss his experiences in pushing the limits of comedy over the last five years.  What has he learnt that will shape comedy in the future?  We will also explore the writing and creation process that he enjoys in his long-standing relationship with SBC.  Who kicks off and dribbles the ball and who gets the golden goal?  Or is it intuitive osmosis these days?

Is Dan the perfect example of ‘the sum of the parts’ and ‘two heads’ syndrome – or is he, as we suspect, just being modest?
