In 2013 I’d just arrived to live in London for 2 years (from Australia) and I met my writing buddy Stu Foreman at my first LondonSWF. We are good friends today and every week we provide honest constructive feedback for each other’s work. And our hard work is starting to pay off! Most recently I made it to the long list for the Funny Women UK writing awards.
In 2016 when I traveled to LondonSWF from Australia I not only got to see the friends I’d made in previous years, plus be inspired again, but I was a part of the Karl Iglesias mini lab. And the actors table read where the director I worked with provided me with an introduction to an Australian film producer.
All of these things were possible because of LondonSWF. But these connections aren’t the only things that make the festival so unlike any other screenwriting event. Every time I’ve attended it’s reaffirmed my commitment and love for writing. It’s clear the organisers truly care about helping writers on their journey.
I recently saw a photo of myself on one of the latest LondonSWF emails and I took it as a sign that I should attend this year! So, I’m going to try my best to get back over for LonddonSWF 2018!!!
